Algae Grower

Hello,
I am in process of setting up 75G bow front tank. As you can see on picture I have wet dry filter ( tank is pre-drilled) with Ehiem pump, 200 W of lights, CO2 injection(bottle). Substrate is regular gravel with addition of duplarit and laterite. We have very soft water with neutral PH. I am planning to get some Java Fern to plant on driftwood and E. tennelis (front). I haven’t decided on other plants so any suggestions would be appreciated. I will try to post some pictures. Thanks, Bob |

Hi there Bob and welcome to the Site!
I would start off with some nice and easy plants, such as java fern like you already have. Hygrophila Polysperma is an excellent plant to start off with to get your tank going. It is fast growing and pretty hard to kill, though it is pretty easy for it to be "unhealthy". When you say you have a CO2 bottle do you mean pressurized or DIY? Keep us updated! Kyle

Bob,
No need to be sad I think your tank looks great plantless. The begining of a beautifully planted tank, is the tank itself, right? To me, it sounds like you have a good setup as far as filtration and substrate. I will assume the co2 is pressurized since you have a larger tank, DIY seems like it would be a bit tricky, and the one thing you didn't mention is lighting. What kind of lighting you have can play a role in what kind of plants you would want to give a try. But so far, i think you are off to a good start! Also, that is one awesome piece of wood! 8) Please keep us updated as you begin your planting and welcome to the board.
