Ed's Aquarium in the Roosevelt Field mall has Badis badis for 4.99 ea. No, wait-that was in 1978. Never mind.

As I started to read Mr. Limpet's post, I thought ... they're back?! Then I laughed. I still remember how dark it was it there. In the '70s I also frequented a mom & pop place called The Golden Guppy in Roosevelt. Thanks for the memories!

anyone see any good RCS (red cherry shrimp) around? And for a reasonable price. Please, no one mention Pacific, Those are a bit overpriced |

on a different yet somewhat similar note, what are sakura shrimps? I've seen them in Win.
I then searched for them on google. Some say they're just bright red female RCS, others say they're a different species |

Fire reds and Sakura are higher grade cherry shrimps, bred for stronger red coloration. They are essentially the same type, and will breed with regular cherry shrimps, though you really do not want to do so.

Wait, if they're all really red, how would you sex them?
Not all females will be "saddled" |

All females I have I can tell they have saddles. Though some of them are solid red that it's harder to tell. Besides, looking at the shrimp, you can pretty much tell right away if they're female or male. The body shape is very different once they are close to sexually mature.

Went to Fishtown today. Other than the cheap neons and pygmy cories (which I picked up a few of), they have male and female threadfin rainbow fish for $7 each and $20 for 3. As for the pea puffers, they only had two left in the tank, each about the size of a grape.

They have discus (in the tank next to the Royal Clown Knives) but I really didn't pay attention to them nor do I know the types. Sorry.

I did a quick glance and I believe they were $10 each. But I might be wrong.
