i've moved to the area just recently from wisconsin. What is this?

*[edit]* nm i just googled the date and location and found a pdf for the greater akron aquaria society... i'm assuming it's like a giant garage sale for aquaria related items?

Occasionally there is new stuff but the majority is used but in working condition.

There is no way to know what will be at the auction but it is definitely an all day affair and well worth the effort.

I bought an Eheim filter, aquariums, plants, books, cichlids, live food, light fixtures, driftwood, sponge filters and power filters last year.

I bought a great pair of breeding discus last year for a "power bid" of $100. Everyone must have been looking away at the same time. Driftwood, discus, gravel (which usually goes cheap), tanks, etc. even some saltwater. Everything imaginable has shown up there at some time. Often over a thousand items auctioned off, burning through four or five auctioneers. Good snacks, so you don't have to leave. You can also look at items in advance and note down ones you want to bid on.

There are not as many independent pet shops as there were, but Akron and Cleveland still have ones worth going to see. I would not call my planted tanks Amano or Dutch, but they do have lots of plants in them.

Here's a link to the Akron auction map and rules.

Eleven hours til auction time! I hope some of you can make it. From what I saw at the monthly meeting two days ago there should be lots of rare plants at this auction. And some serious CO2 equipment.

The auction was great!!! We got there at 11AM and got home at 10PM.

Lots of plants, used tanks & strip lights, great fish. The turn out was a little light because of the nice weather so it was a long day but always well worth the trip.

There's a cichlid auction, and a reef tank frag swap, but a bit of a dry spell until the next big general auction in this area. Motor City Dec. 10 and that's it for a while. I bought some new plants, not nearly as many as I sold, and most of them went cheap, cheap, cheap. And I bought five almost breeder size red koi angels, cheap, cheap. cheap, so it usually balances out. About five gallons of small grain tan and brown gravel, and whatever else made my total bill add up to about $80.
