What is the name of the this plant?
Not sure the rules on posting other peoples pictures, so I will post the link instead.
I want to know the name of the tall grassy plant in the back right of the tank (I will PM the owner of the tank as well... figure he would not best): http://www.plantedtank.net/gulfcoast55.html is it an easy and tolerant plant to grow? seem to see a lot of people with it. Thanks,

if it is a Val, then what specific type? I am looking for one that gets at least 16" tall, and is about 1/2" wide.

Sounds like you want some Jungle Vals, be careful what you wish for.

The plant is Jungle Val, though. It took a while to settle in and start growing, but once it did, man that thing took over. Leaves over three feet long were about the norm. They'd snake their way along the surface and block the light to the rest of the tank. Definitely could make for an interesting tank with some muted tones, but certainly does not "get along well with others". |

But you could just cut the extra length down, correct? It wouldnt have the pointed end to it though. With my high co2/light combo I have to trim back my plants every week anyway, so wouldnt be too much extra work for me.
Is this not recommended with Jungle Vals? also, what do you mean by ripping them in half? physically pulling them out of the substrate and breaking it apart?
