CO2 bubble count

I have a 90 gallon planted tank with pressurized CO2. I recently switched from UpAqua atomizer to a DIY Rex Grigg style reactor. I have a drop checker.

With the atomizer, my DC would turn green-yellow by the end of day with just 2 bps. With the 2 bps on the reactor, my DC is only slightly green. Before I start cranking up the bps, I wanted to find out from folks what bps is "normal range" for a 90 gallon tank.

The DC with the atomizer could have been giving me a false reading since the whole tank had the "7up" effect and these bubbles trapped under the DC could have been showing a high CO2 ppm when that was not really the case.

I think your last statement is accurate from what I have read. BPS can vary from tank to tank based on surface aggitation, surface exposure to the air and if you have a sump.

I think your last statement is accurate. You should have the drop checker somewhere that isn't getting hit with the bubbles.

As to how it compares to other tanks, that depends on the size of the bubbles created by the drop checker. They can vary quite a bit between different models.
