My driftwood had a meeting with fire...

So I had a piece of dried wood I planned on submerging for a while and eventually using in a tank.

And uhh, someone tried to catch it on fire. Most of it is still there, but its kinda charred.

Kinda ridiculous, but, uhh, can I still use it? I have no idea what burnt does to Ph or something. I mean, I don't think I will, but, I'm mostly just curious at this point in time.

you didn't try sterilizing it by sticking it in the oven did you?

Well, I had it sitting outside because I didn't have a container big enough to soak it in. I wasn't home, and of all things, someone decided, hey, let's roast marshmallows!!

It apparently didn't catch very well.

to be serious with help, If it was me I would scrape the loose charred bits off and use it anyway.

could you post a picture of it?

I've used and sold a fair amount of charred manzy, as long as you clean it good, wire brush it etc, you are fine, activated carbon basically.

For some reason, it didn't occur to me that fire makes it carbon. *is clearly not here today* Whoops.

Well, I do that to pretty much all wood, charred or not. I'm not sure if I'm gonna use it, since some of the finer points were burnt off, but my curiousity is very pleased to know.

And... I just realised, I have NO idea where my camera is.
Gonna start tearing things apart now. ;__;

(And... that's probably my reaction to MOST things... DESPAAAAAIR)
