need advice, 3 gallon vase.

So my son's betta (Elvis) finally flew the coup... I filled his 3 gallon vase a little more full then usual, and with his tendency to jump (like all bettas) he wound up behind the dresser... Nonetheless, we now have a 3 gallon vase which I would like to continue as an aquarium. It is very low light, and very tall (over 1.5 feet) I have a little extra mineralized topsoil left over that I'm going to put in the vase, but I need to know what kind of plants I could put in there. I was thinking some tall grass that I can put in the back, and one centerpiece crypt of some sort in the center. Also, this is going to turn into an invert tank, so I can stop doing the daily 25% water changes. So what would go well in VERY low light conditions, and what kind of crypt would do well in a vase with an 8 inch diameter bottom? Thanks for any/all help!

By the way, this vase has NO light other than ambient. Although I've considered mounting a reading light just above the vase, if need be.
