Planted Fluval Edge (Factory Lighting)

Hi,

We have been wanting to start fish keeping for a while now and been reading tons and tons on the net about different setup's and styles.

We will be Buying a fluval Edge 6gal tank and finally decided that we want a fairly simple aqua scape.

At the moment we have agreed that we would like:
Seiryu stones
Hermianthus Callitrichoides
Dwarf hairgrass

I understand that these plants are low maintenance and grow in low lighting.

My question is, will the stock lights (2 x 10w halogen coned bulbs) be enough for these plants to survive ?

We donít want to upgrade anything on the tank and will not be having any extra oxygen pumped in to the tank.
Once the tank is cycled etc we intend to stock with 6/8 tetras.

Thank you, you advice is appreciated.

In the reef community Ive seen people retro some led light strips in the hood. Might be worth a try, im trying to figure a lighting setup for my new 10 gallon.

oxygen wouldnt be needed, more so CO2 for the plants to grow and your plans for livestock are a little overstocked.
I only have cherry shrimp, assassin snails and trumpet snails in mine and they're all breeding.
I've gotten Dwarf hairgrass to start growing well enough, and my pellia and anubias are doing fin too with LED lights instead of the halogens.

There are several Fluval Edge threads over on the Nano Tank thread. You'll find every topic you can imagine for this single type of tank. I have one set up without any extra lighting planted with java fern and various crypts at work and it is quite pleasing. I do dose Excel and Fluorish at the weekly water change.

Check out the official edge thread on the nano tank section.
A whole lot of info on what to do with the edge.
