26 gallon bow front

This was going to be a nano reef, but I had some extra driftwood and some really nice rocks my gf gave me that I was wanting to use. Not sure what kind of substrate yet or what plants. I have an Eheim 2215 and 200 watt Hydor ETH I'm going to be using on this tank as well. Whether or not I will be using CO2 is still up in the air also.

I'm still working on the 75 gallon so this tank will be a very slow project but I did want to go ahead and start a journal.

Here's a pic of what I'm working with. This is not going to be the permanent location of the tank.

Any suggestions on substrate? I want something dark but not black.

Had a little time to work on the 26 gallon tanks hardscape and put together a plant list and decided I'll keep shrimp in this tank. I need to get some Eco-complete and go ahead get that worked the way I want it. This was just some I had left over from another tank. I'm also thinking I'm going to do a dry start on this tank with the HC and Staurogyne repens and plant the rest when I fill it up.

Proposed plants are: Cyperus helferi, Staurogyne repens, Pogostemon helferi, HC 'cuba'
and a few E. 'Vesuvius'.

As for what kind of shrimp I'm not sure yet.

I'm still not sure I like the hardscaping as it is but I do think it has potential.

Feel free to critique the hardscape.

Cool looking hardscape but doesn't leave much planting room.

I was thinking HC for a carpet with some downoi and staurogyne for accents, the cyperus in the back behind the large rock and a couple to the left of it. I do want something to add color though so its not all green.
