Diff. kinds of bog wood

Hi I have a few bushes and trees with pieces of wood I wood like to use. I would boil it and all the stuff like that, would it be okay to do that?

IF its already dead, then yeah boil it and your good to go.

IF its still alive, you will need to let it die/dry out. Before you boil.

I do not recomend cutting branches off a bush, most arent suitable for aquarium use (can leech toxins into the water, from what ive read)

Oka and I could buy like a danio to test if it did leach but I think if I did as you suggested and boiled it and it died and stuff it would be okay.

from what I have seen most wood if fully dried is suitable, aside of pine or other wood that have a lot of sap. I have used pieces from a rosemary bush that were dried at least 6 months outside before I began the cleaning/prep process. These have been fine in all the tanks I have used them in.

So I have one and it grew around the rock and is awsome and my favorite wood I have seen but it has been outside for about 8 or so years... at least. Here it rains a good 80 percent of the years like it did today and I have water heating up... is it still okay to boil it until the tannins are realeased and then let it dry or what ever and pop her in? It was in a fresh water river and is water logged I believe if that plays a role and just to be sure it is dead
