Snowtorious B.I.G. (aka Snowpocalypse)(Lake Shore Drive in Chicago) Please no more I don't wanna have to spend an hour digging my car out again For those that got hit by this snow storm, how is it looking in your area? This morning there was so much snow we couldn't even use our front door, it was sealed shut by a wall of snow. |

Today in NY we had a break in the snow, but were treated to an ice storm. I awoke to have my entire driveway a black sheet of ice. Really bizarre and it's not even 2012 yet.

We got the same thing in Jersey. Nasty ice. Greatest quote I saw yesterday on facebook. "How do you know its Tuesday? It snowed."

Dog woke me up at 4:40 this morning to go outside. I have to push open the back door, shooing him out, and he gets half his little body in the snow, and whimpers back inside. I go to the front door to see if I have access to the snowshovel. The drift directly in the path to the garage is chest-high. No way can I get the snowshovel from the garage to clear a path for a dog. I get my coat, and some knee high boots, heading to the back door. I start tamping snow down for the little nuisance. I step off the back stoop, voila, instant thigh disappearing act. Forget that. Went back to the front door, and that dog got his butt kicked outside. Never have I wanted to dropkick something living so much, once he started whimpering that he didn't finish after I crawled back under the covers.
Up here, they called it a "snownami" We received at least 20".

Here in Chicago..well just outside of Chicago on the north side, we got about 21" but we have a 6 ft high drift covering our front door and my car was completely buried minus the side view mirror and antenna. I'm just happy my workplace closed for today but since they make us park on alternate sides of the street in my burb I still had to move my car.
To those that got hit with ice..Thats so much worse than snow >.< |

The mountains have protected us (Washington DC area). But last week we did have a nice thundersnow right during rush hour which created havoc for everyone on the road.

The worst part is when my friend in FL texted yesterday to say "Oh, yeah, we had to turn our AC on today. It was 81* and humid. Do you feel the love?"

Not a ton of snow here, but boy did we get some nasty ice. My university informed me that they would be shutting down all campuses for today, EXCEPT the one I go to. Joyous. I couldn't count how many people I saw fall today. Good call administration.

Sometimes you have to wonder what people are thinking (or if they are) when severe weather hits. Even Chicago Public Schools -- which historically almost never cancels classes becase of bad weather -- made the decision to cancel them for today.
