I have a 20 L tank that i want to make a planted tank. Will a 55 watt compact fluorescent with a REALLY good reflector be too much light for a 20 long (30L x 12W x 12D)? I don't want algae problems. Thanks

If you are talking about a moderate-high light setting, then a 55 watt PC would be fine. Most people think if they have algae it is because to much light. In fact, one of my friends once said, light = algae! But, we know this isn't true. As long as you have enough plants to suck up excess nutrients and keep everything in balance, everthing should be fine!
