Aquascaping Club in NW ohio?

Your best bet is still TRAC, although I think it's slowly circling the drain...

I moved from Toledo to my hometown of Crestline about 1.5 years ago. I really have zero contact with everyone up there any more and have no stores in my area worth a darn. So sort of stuck in limbo with everything...

That and I'm going through my senior year of nursing school so my time is VERY short.

Yeah I've been gone a while. Most of the freshwater people don't really go except for Susan really........I don't know if this married couple still go or not (I can't remember their names). Really not a big freshwater scene in the area even though Trilby is in Toledo.

But their customer service sucks. I speak freely about them now that I'm not tied to the club. I really hated that store. I just up sold them so they'd stay sponsors.

man the more and more i get into this hobby the more and more i want to open a specialized planted tank shop in the toledo bowling green area... but there just seems to be no customer base...

There really isn't. And all you'll do is have people compliment on how nice everything is, how well priced it is, how knowledgeable you are, etc.......and go right back to Trilby and other places (Tropical Reef......) that are a LOT more expensive and lack the knowledge to spend hundreds.

I know from personal experience.

Trilby (Toledo) definitely has more plants available than the RMS Aquaculture (Cleveland). But at the same time, Trilby also has a higher sticker price, oh well... In my opinion, except a few densely populated cities in the US, it's just not worth it to open up specialized planted tank shop. There are just not enough customers to make it profitable...

Best plant store, that I've been to, in Ohio is sadly Aquarium Adventure in Columbus. If you can get there early for their 50% off sale, it's well worth it.

There is a plant store that sells a lot on Aquabid but I don't see any of their auctions listed, nor can I remember their name. But they are located in Ohio and have a LOT of plants for a really, really good price. If I find them, I'll post their name up (they do have a website as well).

AA is sort of expensive but if you catch their sales, they are cheap. I bought some HOB filters, good sized ones, for like $15 there before. I REALLY like them too. They have some cool display tanks and I hate to describe the guy this one, but if the Asian guy is working......that guy KNOWS his planted tanks! It was three years ago and I forget his name.

I think that sounds about right. Their shipping is cheap and also dabble in inverts as well. Really wish I could remember their site/name!!!
