best fish stores in Manhattan
I'm doing a vacation in July to New York city and staying near Times Square. Does anyone know of fish stores near by to check out. I've been to New York for business many times but never had a chance to checkout anything until now.

You definitely need to go to Chinatown then. Win tropical (on Mott street btwn grand st and Broome st) is a staple for most of us.
Another good place is pacific aquarium on delancy |

Good food in China Town as well. They also have New York Aquarium on the west side and New World Aquarium on the east side (37th street)

Not a harsh warning, but something that I think should be mentioned- when visiting New York and thinking about the local aquarium scene, lower your expectations about 4 notches, and then maybe you'll be slightly impressed. I don't want to sound too negative, but I'd give the New york lfs scene a C.
Now, if you want food recs in chinatown or elsewhere, definitely let me know... |

I second the motion guys.
Win has good prices but few choices. Pacific has more choices but higher prices. Other mom and pop shops (well here in the bronx) has crappy choices and prices too. It's a no win situation here for us. |

Winn is a very nice place, theres another store one block south of it, directly behind.
I agree though, space in ny is expensive so most stores are somewhat small. What they makeup for is good quality fish and service. Go to winn tropical! |
