6g JBJ nanocube conversion noob

the soil will turn your water yellow. I havent had aquasoil before but i would jsut do water changes untill the color is gone.

I figured it was the soil. Will definately be changing the water weekly seeing as it's a small tank. It must clear up all the ADA guys use this soil and their tanks are crystal clear.

any one have suggestions/comments in regards to the "Kyoto grass" from petsmart....should I scrap it when I get some HC?

also what's a good freshwater test kit? And what do you guys primarily test for ?
