Can HC grow in this?

I found some sand that has grains 1-3mm in size and want to try growing HC (dwarf baby tears) again, since my dry start topsoil attempt utter failed miserably.

I don't plan on doing dry start again, but probably maybe an inch layer of this sand in this small glass cube I have and fill the top with water add some CO2 and Seachem ferts and maybe a root tab.

basicly its just a substrate to hold them in place, theres just no fert in it. its not a big grain so it should let it grow nice without hindering its growth. these guys seem to do a lil better with a pinch more of phosphate. just have a decent light and u should be fine.
