You need more plants. Many more! fill up your tank with fast growers.
Cut your lighting in half. Run one bank of lights for 4 hours then the other for 4 hours. A small overlap would be okay.

Aquasoil in a new tank setup will release lots of ammonia in the beginning. With the amount of plants in your tank you are asking for algae. Do a water change everyday for a week. More plants and think about how you are going to fertilize and get a plan together. E.I --PPS----PPSpro-------ADA?

As far as the algae you have now looks to be the easy kind to deal with. I should be fairly soft and easy to beat. Clean as much out daily with an old toothbrush by twirling the brush in the algae. Filter brush or a pipe cleaning brush will work also.

Just keep after it. Crank the co2 up and watch your fish if you have any in there.

Looks like Diatoms to me. I would not worry. If its is really slime like to the touch, just manual removal and good ol' fashion patience.

I think that is riccia mixed in with your HC that is growing upward. Diatoms are common in new setups. It usually goes away with patience as Orlando suggested.

Watch your lights. I'm seeing beginnings of other algae there too. 3.5 WPG of t5 lights are a lot of photons.

And 3 b/s of CO2 isn't really an accurate measure for CO2. We use a drop checker to get an idea of how much CO2 is in the tank.

Hope this helps for future algae issues (it's not mines just found it on the "Fertilizers and Water Parameters" section sticky and has useful information)

http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/fe...-regimes_.html

just scroll down a bit less than halfway it should have an attachment that reads "algae issues" just drag it to your desktop and save it. Hope you get rid of that algae soon.

This was just what I was looking for, my tank is getting brown diatoms all over the place as well. Looks like I didn't have to make my own thread after all, neat. Great info guys!
