Image Editing and Insertion Guide

Here is a guide for those that are having trouble editing their images so they comply with the board rules(must be no larger than 700 px wide and 550 px tall and no larger than 75kb in size).

To start off you are going to need a program to edit the pictures. The best free program I have found so far is IrfanView and can be downloaded here: http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html

Download and install the program. Once that is done open the picture you wish to edit by going to File>Open and find your picture.

To resize your image go to Image>Resize/Resample as shown in the picture below:

Click the picture for a bigger view.

A box should pop up with a ton of options. The one we are looking for is boxed in on the following picture:

Edit the options so that you have an image that is less than 700 px wide and 550 px tall and then press OK.

Now that our image is the correct size we need to save it optimized. To do this go to File>Save As:

A box should pop up; look for the pull down menu called "Saved As Type:" and scroll down until you find "JPG - JPEG Files".

Click the picture for a bigger view.

Once you have selected this another box should pop like the following:

Leave all the check boxes alone, the option we want is the slide titled "Save Quality". Slide this to adjust the quality of the image. The higher the quality the bigger the file size. The lower the quality the lower the file size. A good place to start is between 35 and 50. Remember to post an image on the forum it must be less than 75kb. It might take some experimentation to get the right balance between quality and size.

When you have finished click save and you are now ready to post your picture in the forum!

Attaching an image or photo to your thread is simple. Copy the url of your photo between these tags [IMG]...[/IMG].
For example, [IMG ]http://photos..... [/IMG]

1. The image can be no wider than 1024 and no taller than 768.
2. The image can be no larger than 250 kb.
3. If you have many large pictures in one post add (56K) or (56K warning) in the title.

Photo Posting Guide for Non-paying members
Photobucket.com and Imageshack.us are popular FREE photohosting sites. These sites allow you to upload your images, and link them to forum boards, blogs, friends, etc. There are pros and cons of both, but here's the basic gist.

Photobucket.com has 50 mb (250+photos) limit storage capacity, but allows multiple image uploads. However, you can always open another account if additional space is necessary.
ImageShack.us has unlimited storage capacity, but permits only single image uploads. However, Imageshack provides a thumbnail option for linking.

Pick whichever hosting site you prefer or use both.
Now here is a HOW TO GUIDE to image posting from these two sites.

Attaching a photo using PHOTOBUCKET.COM

1) Register with Photobucket.com
2) Upload pictures
3) After finishing upload, you'll be directed to your album, and it'll look like the picture below

4) Copy everything in the Box that the RED ARROW is pointing to: [IMG]http:/i31.photobucket....[IMG]
5) Paste that into your post
6) Your picture is now linked from your photobucket album
7) Preview Post to see if you done it correctly
8) Finish writing your posting and submit!

Attaching a photo using IMAGESHACK.US

1) Register with ImageShack.us
2) Upload pictures
3) After finishing upload, find your album, and it'll look like the picture below

4) Copy everything in the Box that the RED ARROW is pointing to: [IMG]http://img59.imageshack.us....[IMG]
5) Paste that into your post
6) Your picture is now linked from your imageshack album
7) Preview Post to see if you done it correctly
8) Finish writing your posting and submit!

Imageshack also allows you to thumbnail your pictures,

1) Copy everything that the BLUE ARROW is pointing to
2) Paste into your post
3) Preview and Submit

Now start attaching those photos!
And let's see your Tanks!
