Illegal Plants in New Hampshire

The following is a list of prohibited exotic aquatic species in New Hampshire:

Egeria densa brazilian elodea (Anacharis)
Hydrocharis morsus-ranae frogbit
Butomus umbellatus flowering rush
Najas minor European naiad
Nymphoides peltata yellow floating heart

fanwort I would not have thought would be on it.....
I don't think I have any of them...
and what are the criteria that put plants on the list??

Hehehehe, I was not aware of this either until I tried to auction off some of the Anacharis I'd been growing in my tanks for years and someone pointed out to everyone that those plants had been made illegal in NH a few years back. Oops, guess they should have made an effort to inform the public..

Apparently from what I heard this one made the list because it's capable of surviving the winter and replaceing a native species in some pond near Manchester that someone had dumped it in.

So I figured I'd point this out to help others from feeling a little awkward in public like I did over a simple lack of knowing.

New Hampshire does notify the public. They are the most transparent state in the union. All proposed laws and rules are published on the website. Hearings are given plenty of notice and you have plenty of time to speak and say what is on your mind. Very friendly. Not horribly formal.
NH has the 3rd largest representative body in the world. More reps than most countries. It's up to you as an adult to keep yourself informed. They aren't allowed to hit you in the head with it.

Norway Maple
Burning Bush
Barberry
Scotch pine
and a few other common landscape plants are also illegal. You can often spot them growing on state and federal building lawns.
