i get the definition of both, but all i can think about is Media broadcasting of regime's falling and attacking people.. yada yada

i see regime and i think planned group of people... not just a planned way of doing things..

The definitions for "regime" are both valid from my point.

"The totalitarian regime has fallen" uses the first definition.
"This is a new diet regime I am following" uses the second definition.

Edit: It seems that "regime" when used in the medical sense is interchangeable with "regimen," according to Merriam-Webster.

The one that bugs me is "hobbiest".

It's hobbyist. Unless someone is actually trying to suggest they're more of a hobbyist than anyone else, in which case they should drop the "hobbier than thou" attidude.

Actually it would be someone that is more of a hobby, not more of a hobbyist. (hobby, hobbier, hobbiest, similar to funny, funnier, funniest).
