My New Spec

Just got the Fluval spec last week, neat little tank. Here's a pic of it fully planted.

Plants:

Jungle Val
HC
Ludwigia Peruensis
Hygro Compacta
Dwarf Pennywort
Rotala Magenta (Not exactly sure if this is the right name, the plant in question is the orange-ish one in the middle)

For the time being I am using the stock LED light plus an led light bulb hanging above the tank. I plan to upgrade the lighting soon.

Also I am injecting CO2 using the Fluval mini c02 kit.

Inhabitants include CRS, RCS and Tri-Colored Horned Nerite Snails.

I welcome any comments or questions.

I have Frogbit and Java Moss in mine, but it's low tech.

I should put some other plants in.

Just upgraded the light on my spec 19litre earlier today. 11w of flourescent goodness should do the trick :-)

Yeah just a flourescent clip on type lamp. From a place called Argos here in the uk. I'll try find a link to show you how it looks

Have you considered adding some hard scape? Scapes without hard scapes end to look very flat and not cohesive (True Dutch style is an exception though)? Great start though!

I don't think you can fit much of a hard scape in a 2 gallon fluval spec. Maybe a few pebbles or twigs. I understand what you are saying but I'm quite happy with it the way it is.

It's all about looking for the right materials, even though they may be scarce. A harmony between hardscape and flora does create very pleasing landscape. BUT if you enjoy it, that's all that matters! Looking forward to the progression!
