I have a 2.5 gallon mini bow filled with low light plants. I don't really know the names of all of it, it is a mixture of stuff from a package from a user on here and some stuff I picked I at petco.
I picked up one of those 10w zoo med bowls and was wondering if that was adequate light for a tank this size. I remember reading that the watts per gallon doesn't really hold true for nano tanks so I'd like the opinion of all of you. |

You could probably get away with a desk light to do the job

Obsessed? Maybe

Watts Per Gallon should basically be ignored for all tanks, not just small tanks.
By "zoo med bowls" do you mean a daylight bulb? Dome fixture? If you mean bulb, it will be fine if it's daylight. If you mean fixture? Yes, it will be fine for your tank.

Yeah, sorry, that was supposed to say bulb. So the ten watts is fine for my tank?

I use this light from Marine Depot for my 2.5 gallon tank and it works really well plus with LEDs there is no heat and it should last 5 to 7 years before it need to be replaced. Mine is a low tech tank but I grow Crypts, Fissidens, Subwassertang, Rotala, and flame moss, in AquaSoil so it's enough light to grow most anything.

I love the look of that light and the tank looks beautiful. But I have the mini bow and want a bulb to screw into the hood.
Would my plants benefit from more light? maybe 15-20 watts. No co2 but I do have potting for substrate (capped with gravel) |

Not to thread jack, but beautiful tank, 150.
OP, why not keep an eye on your plants, their progress in a journal notebook. If they turn for the worse, revive this thread and we can help more then. I think they'll be fine if they're low light.
