What tetra is that? From pacific.

Saw some tetra good for my nano in pacific. I forgot the name of it, anybody remember by any chance. I bought 3 just to see how they do on my tank, will pick up some more next week if they all survive.

Those look like Ember Tetras to me.

Was just there today - and they have the tank labeled Amandae tetras. I didn't make the connection without some help either (Ember Tetra = Hyphessobrycon amandae).

They are awesome little fish! I think I will be putting them and some pygmy cories in my next nano tank.

I picked up 8 from Pacific yesterday. They are very peaceful and stay small. great for nano tanks! I have 16 in my other tank.

I got six as well and they school with my other micros. If you're considering other microfish, Pacific's "Harlequins" this week are actually the diminutive Lambchop Rasbora

the regular harlequins are like proverbial Porkchop rasboras that get big. t.espeis remain small

This could be Ember tetra or another tetra that sometimes is imported as Ember because it looks VERY much like the Ember.

The only difference is that when calm and happy the Ember is deeper orange - literally glowing deep orange. The other species is more pale, but it has faint opalescent colors - green, blue, and even white.

The difference is truly negligible and overall the real Ember looks just deeper orange. The way your picture is now it looks like the second species, but you need to wait to see how deep orange the fish eventually get. When stressed even a little bit both species look exactly the same.

Both species are some of the hardiest tetras ever and school very tightly. Once you get them you always love them.

id be interested in knowing because i have another tank of fish purchased as embers which are of lesser coloring and not as deeply orange. The ones from pacific are clearly juvies so they are much smaller.

What are you guys feeding them? I am feeding frozen brine shrimp yesterday, haven't tried flakes, need to grind it to powder for them to eat I guess. Maybe that golden pearl thing?

I crushed flakes into a powder and fed golden pearls today. They pecked at both. They eat shly, like my microrasboras

actually your embers looked pretty orange on par with the ones i picked up in Long Island for $1.50 ea. The ones in pacific are like really dark orange though which is why i decided to keep these separate from my existing stock.

Not hoping to breed or anything, just dont want these guys making my existing stock look less attractive

Didn't pay much attention on the fish except the catfish, I thought I saw mostly neon/cards. Take a pic.
