$11 Shop Light

My Shop Light new color reflectors. Since the HD DP shop light is 2x better then the White paint/Steel Paint shop light I went ahead and got myself a can of spray paint to spray the inside of one of my old shop light from walmart.

Light is still being 24hr dry, rub my hand on the paint and kinda got some paint stain on my hand after a 3 hrs of drying, hopefully this doesn't go on and hope the paint dry dry.

I do see a HUGE change on the brightness, and reflectors show more bulb then the white paint. The after reflectors should be better (finger cross).

$11 for the shop light, $4 for the paint total of $15 over a $35 HD DP shoplight.

I'm thinking of Sealing the paint from future damage from like scratch and stuff. Any idea what to do?

hard to say but go to an auto shop like autozone and pick up some engine clear coat that can handle heat.... just in cause the light is pushing to much heat that it wont melt the paint and make a mess if not fall into your tank... just my option...

I used something like that paint for T-12 and T-8 bulbs with no problems, but the ballast was remote, not part of the fixture.

2 t8 bulb shouldn't give off more than 60-80f. Heat shouldn't be a problem. I'm more worry about water damage the paint or dripping back into the tank.

After 24 hr, rubbing lighty on the paint will smear off paint onto your finger etc.
I should of have sand the white paint off and prime it first.

Is it particularly cold or high humidity in your area? Paint should not take that long to dry.

Maybe you should sand it down now, and then prime and paint it again.
