Digital Timer Powerstrip from Monoprice

There are many threads on the forum about timed powerstrips, and most have the same results. I haven't seem the monoprice timer mentioned in any threads, so throwing it out there if anyone wants to try.

Monoprice.com (location in Cali I believe, so quick shipping for the guys on that coast), product id 7998. price is $18 (can't go wrong with that). It's currently out of stock, but should be there in a week.

very good find indeed. i like the dual timer feature for co2/lighting having separate controlls. nice

Good deal ... I had a hard time trying to find a low priced independent dual timer. Ended up buying 2 single timers but they're big and bulky.

After seeing the Coralife melted timers, I'm always a bit wary of these types of power strips. Maybe someone here could take some inside shots of the circuitry or at least get the max amperage per outlet.

After doing some more research, it seems I found the original product this item is a re-brand of: http://www.tripplite.com/en/products...xtModelID=4938.

Amazon has some reviews on the Tipplite unit, mostly seems controls are not intuitive and it resets to off incase of a power loss. But otherwise ok. Would love some first-hand experience is anyone gets it, as I will probably pick one up in a few weeks.

Well, I finally got 2 of them. I hate to say that I do not like them for several reasons:

1. Defaults to all outlets OFF on power failure
2. There is no 'always on' outlet
3. No holes on the back for mounting on the wall
4. If you read the manual you will never figure out how to program it
5. The manual states "not for use with aquarium equipment" ...

On the plus side:

1. 4 outlets are controlled by one timer and other 4 outlets are controlled by the second timer
2. Looks and feels solid
3. The 3-prong orientation is perpendicular to the unit, not horizontal
4. Very attractive price
5, Battery back-up for programming

Oh well, back to searching...

That's too bad about the powerstrip. They make good budget over-the-ear headphones though.
