Which size lighting fixture?

Hello,

I am changing my tank over to live plants and I am looking at getting the nova extreme T5 high output X2 freshwater light fixture. I want to get the 36" fixture to go on top of my tank instead of the 30" fixture. I think the 36" fixture will be too long for my 36 gallon bowfront and that it may put out too much light. Should I just go with the 30" fixture. I like to keep plants that require low to medium light.

My tank dimensions are 30"L x 15"w x 21"H
