Dwarf baby tears

Hi everyone, i have a 29 gallon tank. this will be my first time planting real plants. i want to plant Dwarf Baby tears first , i am going to use A diy co2 system. but i dont know what kind of lighting to use. Any ideas or tips would help me to get started.

Hello pozman. This plant is extremely difficult to grow. I applaud you for giving it a try. CO2 is probably a good idea and you'll need more than moderate lighting.

Be prepared for the plant to die back by at least half, if not more. You'll also need to clean your filter equipment often, because of the dead plant material.

I attempted to grow this plant attached to pieces of lava rock in a low-tech, 30 G tank, moderate lighting and liquid ferts dosed a couple of times per week. It looked very good in the beginning, but died within a few weeks.

I planted some dwarf baby tears today in a 180 gallon tank with two metal halides (175 watts each) and pressurized co2 and mineralized soil. Will see how it goes. I should take a picture after the tank clears up. Did a major clean up.

I have some in my 29 gallon tank. Lighting is less important than consistent co2. Also HC loves excell. So i would supplement that too. Also i would suggest you use the dry start method if you want to grow a carpet of HC. it's just a lot faster.
