Its finally happening! I noticed on my banana plant that one of the lily pads it was sending up has a bundle of flower buds just below the pad. I was wondering if the flower on this thing is self polinating or not. I would really like to use the flower to try and massively propogate this plant. if its at all possible. Thanks in advance,

I saw some banana plants at my lfs and wanted to buy some, but didn't know how much lighting they require.
Do they need 3wpg? I only got 2.4-2.6wpg. |

hehe, sorry Momotaro, no camera. My brother has one I'll see if I can borrow it. As far as lighting goes, I just rigged 2- 48' shop light fixtures over my 20 L. pretty ghetto.

Multifish... Bannana plants take 2WPG, so your wattage will work fine.
Sundewed... Love to see a pic. Never had mine bloom, plenty of lilly pads but no flowers.

I'm really sorry guys, its sending up tons of flowers, that open for one day and then submerge again after their closed. On the large pad, there are 20+ buds that have/will flower. Currently only 2 lilies containing the flowers are blooming, but a third is rising. I'll see what I can do about a pic

Sweet sundewd. Do you have any idea what initiated the flower or did it just happen? Do you trim your tall shoots?

Actually, I did ablsolutey nothing to start it, which is probably why you don't hear about it a whole lot, I think the plant needs to get floating leaves to the surface, but most people trim them off. thats just a guess though
