Was curious why no one posted here. What is the best store in the are for plants and supplies. The regular Pets mart is good and all but I really want a more Local place. I am going to ride out to Beldt's this weekend but have never been there. What do you guys think of them. They are having an open house on the 25th.

I have heard mixed reviews on Beldt's, but have never been there... Only about 15 miles from me, though, may have to check it out for myself.
Aquatic Store is in St. Charles, more like 30 miles for me...

Default Hello from Wright City

Hi, I just found this forum. Glad to know there are some Missourians involved.

I am a gardener (dirt) and thought this would be an easy extension of that (boy was I wrong), but am learning so very much.

I'm now at the stage that I have all the equipment and really ready to do some heavy planting, but no plant stores....Thanks for all the tips on stores - I was feeling very frustrated with calling places and hearing that they had plants but weren't sure what kind....

Are you planting them in the substrate or attaching to driftwood or rocks?

Both, I have my oldest one growing on a piece of driftwood, and 2 growing in the substrate.

And just in case it makes any difference in the answer, I am running low light and no CO2

With anubias, I don't think the co2 matters much. I would say you can have as much as you want and as close as you want. I have tons of anubias packed into my driftwood.

KC area. Fishworld in blue springs is gone. Petland in blue springs has some decent fish and driftwood, even some nice plants if you can find them, but the staff is hopeless. They couldnt tell me where anything was. Brothers pets almost always has an excellent selection. They are very hit and miss on the health of their freshwater stock so inspect anything you buy well.
City Pets always has some good oddball stuff and the most helpful staff around. They have BBA in all tanks. Bleach dip any plants, rock, or driftwood you buy there. As for fish all are in great health.
Planet pet is gone.
Picasso is cool to check out but anything and everything is 2-3 times the cost anywhere else.
If I am forgetting any in the area let me know, but I think thats it.

Oh yeah the Walmart in blue springs gets some decent cichlids in every once in a while. You just have to catch them right after they are stocked.
The Petco in Lees summit and blue springs both have very very good aquatic department managers. They keep everything in as good shape as possible. The manager in the Lees summit store even orders oddballs in every once in a while.
