I was told that this is normal on newly introduced driftwood.
I had this manzanita driftwood out of water for over 2 years and redid my tank and put it in with a ton of JAVA MOSS attached.
It started as a white fuzz and then looked like cotton balls and now its brown.

Today I added 3 corys--3 otos--3 plecos and 3 amano shrimp from what I read on other post about this.

Will this go away over time or should I worry???

Hi I have the same (I think?) issue. Got a branch from the LFS and they said it was ok to go right in the tank. A few days later white growth..not as cotton like as yours but still white and scary looking! I put two nerite snails in and they are eating it up. I just want to make sure it will be safe to add fish to this tank now? thanks!!
