I live about 20 minutes to the south of Ithaca. I am just a newbie. Some of the plants are already taking over the aquarium and I hope to be able to trade with other members soon.
LOL. You might be surprised, but some of us visit the city a few times a year. Even enjoyed visiting the aquarium and the beach last summer. :fish: It is a nice change of pace.
Yes although I don't think we're thinking of the same ABC store. I'm from Virginia (in W. NY for college), and the ABC stores there are the liqueur stores.
SU grad, but I didn't get into keeping aquariums until my son was interested. It seems like there is a pretty nice lfs in the area there and I have been tempted to check out the auction in East Syracuse on April 20th.
I am sorry that I didn't post a link and I am glad that you found the site. Here in Ithaca it seems our only Aquarium Club is at the high school. Hmmm.. I might be a bit too old. I thought visiting the auction in Syracuse would be fun and that I might learn a bit too.
Just get there at 11am and be prepared to be amazed because there's A LOT of plants animals and equipment there. If you find something you want and don't want to wait around for that table to be auctioned you can pay a $2 premium and they'll bump you to the front of the line. When I say a lot I mean they go till well after 7pm at a good clip. Well worth the trip. It's a full school gym worth of stuff.
Wow that sounds incredible. I hope I can make it over there too but it's a 2.5 hour drive for me :/
I'd really love to check out the general meeting too. Bummer they're on wednesdays though :/
