I am planning on a low tech 5.5 gallon shrimp tank. I am stuck on the substrate part... I have some black gravel that I wanted to use but I also have some natural colored pea gravel that I was thinking of using.
Would either of these work or would you guys recommend sand for the tank?
I personally use sand in all my tanks. It makes moving plants around a breeze, and I don't have to worry about my stems floating up if I accidently bump the gravel.
Use miracle grow organic potting soil toped with pool filter sand and you should be fine.
