Hello
I have a female endlers livebearer in a 30 gallon planted tank which I want to transfer to a 55 gallon but can not net her, she darts into the plants .
I was going to buy a fish trap but read about the bottle trap.
They work great. Hide your trap in the plants and heard them in with the net, if your like me and impatient. Otherwise, put some food in there and wait.
Thank you very much, I set it today with food because was afraid the plastic bottle would leach something into the water and had it in a bucket for a few days than had to silicone fishing line to it.
I use it for shrimp and it works. Be careful about the food you leave in the bottle because it can cloud the water and potentially kill the fish that's trapped.
For shrimp, I usually just leave a small portion of a pellet in the bottle. I also tie a string the bottle so I don't have to put my whole arm in the tank.

I just wait till the tanks been dark for a few hours and use a flash light to net my guppy females.
