Setup a 20 gallon quarantine tank. The filter i got is so loud. It one of those tetra hob. Even exchanged it same problem. Any suggestions. This tank will be setup all the time.
For a quarantine tank, I am partial to sponge filters, with powerheads, much quieter, or bio wheels with a powerhead. Since fish aren't in there for too long, no gravel or decorations, mechanical filtration is not a big concern.
So I do plan to keep the QT setup all the time, and will put fry in it once I get my primary tank fully setup. So it won't be QT all the time.
I do plan to have bare bottom as well. Already painted sides, back and bottom black.
I already have, but not in use 2 of these sponge cube filters with one of those jet lifter from swiss tropical and a pump for it as well. I thought that was kinda loud.
When you say sponge filter with bio wheel or sponge, can you explain or show me example don't think I have seen those.
Bio wheel setup from marineland, driven by a powerhead, serves the same purpose as the sponge filter. I have had by good experience with the bio wheels, with heavily stocked tanks, and they cycle very rapidly.
So would this work?
Marineland Penguin BIO-Wheel Power Filter? I was thinking I would just get a 150? Since my tank is 20 gallon, should be more than enough.
My Aquaclear is super quiet, you should try one if you haven't yet.
When I bought my QT setup it came with an Aqueon Quietflow and I totally agree, the filters that come with those setups really suck.
