I'm in Kittery and want a club in maine. It would be great if were could have one big soceity that was broken up into divisons. south, north, east, and west. I'm in the NH aquarium soceity currently. It is well established but hurting. Maine needs one!!
I agree, we do need something, but 4 clubs would be kinda unrealistic. I think having a club in Portland or South Portland would be our best bet to get one started.
I live a little north of Brunswick myself.
I agree on the portland idea! Not so much on the four divisons. I was trying to broadcast state wide to see what was happening. I am kind of happy with the New Hampshire club I am in, but in my opinion it needs major work. Their website is pretty weak and it seems like there isn't a big effort to spread the hobby and get new members. I want to share my plant growing knowledge and get many others interested. Planted tanks are easy!!! Keep it simple.
So I know this is a very old thread but I'm a newbie and was wondering if anything ever happened with starting a group or club in Maine..... I'm in Auburn btw. Would love to connect with others that are into the hobby...
I'm a newbie as well, and just moved to Maine! This would be a great chance to meet fellow enthusiasts! I hope something comes of it. We live in southern Maine.
It's an old thread and still no club, although I've seen people talking about it on our local forum maineaquaria.com
We do occasionally meet on the saltwater side for frag swaps at cultivatedreef.com usually two or three times a year. Quite a few of us also do freshwater but I haven't seen any meetups for that so far.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
