White mold/fungus on driftwood

My betta tank where there is a piece of driftwood that sticks up above the water seems to have an issue with a possible mold or fungus. It has even spread on top of the duckweed and frogbit and on the part of the wood that sticks out of the water. It like a white light dusting but only on the parts that stick out of the water. I have tried putting melafix/pimafix in but it doesn't seem to really solve it.

I am wondering if at this point I should just toss the plants and start over. If I did is there a way to "sanitize" the wood, it is a nice piece I would like to save.
