I am looking for ideas to make a diy hanger for my new odyssea light fixture. Want to hang from the ceiling(dont wanna buy a pipe bender... can I rent them?) and will likely have to drill into the fixture to do this.
Don't know if you can rent them, but I asked if one of the Home Depot employees could bend the pipe for me on site. You could also buy one, then return it. I drilled my fixture, and crimped a stopper to the end of the cable.
Here are some good DIY links. Ceiling + chain Conduit #1 conduit #2
Just bend the conduit at the store with their bender.
While they may ask what you're doing, at most big box stores there won't be any employees by to ask. That's one advantage.
Don't bend it at a right angle. Make the bend almost a right angle so the weight of the light fixture pulls it to a right angle.
Rub the conduit down really well with fine steel wool and paint it for best appearance.
I went with a pre bent angle and connectors. Not perfect, but good enough.
