Hi all,
I just got a 20 gallon tank and would like to put CRB and CRS in it. I was wondering what substrates you guys would reccomend that are avaiable online in the US. My water comes out 7.0 out of the tap. I am trying to stay away from Fluval and ADA aquasoil shipping is about 35 to my house so its more expensive then the actual bag. I do have a old bucket full of floramax i use in my 75 gallon, but i still want to lower my ph. Suggestions! Please help!
Is there a swimming pool or spa supply store anywhere near Point Pleasant NJ ?
If so, just buy a bag of pool filter sand. Your shrimps will love it.
They sell PFS in 50 lb. bags for around $10, and you'll have enough to do 2 - 20 gal tanks, or more.
No, it won't lower your pH, but most other appropriate substrates for shrimp won't either.
There are other safe ways to lower pH - you don't have to lower it very much to make it ideal for shrimp. Are you planning on a piece of dritwood for that tank ? That could do it.
If you are willing to use the fluval shrimp stratum, amazon will deliver it for free if you buy 2 8.8lb bags. That is what I have done for my last 2 20L tanks.
i will take a look at that thanks, and i am putting a decent amount of driftwood so maybee that will lower it enough. Anyone know of a place that ships ADA on the east coast?
ok thanks i might have to take a drive up their to grab a 9l bag still looking over my options. Kepp them comming please!
