You have a leak. Or you used water that was too hot and it killed the yeast. Open up the bottle and see if the yeast is working, you should also be able to smell it. If the yeast is alive then you have a leak. Tighten the lid and check the tubing for nicks and cuts. You should know that the Hagen unit is really for smaller tanks, under 20 gallons. It's not going to help you a lot with a 55 gallon tank. As far as lights, do you have the standard 2 bulb top on your 55? If so get a glass canopy and use a couple of shop lights.
