I have a glass top.
If you are using the light for viewing purposes only, then the glass top is okay. not preferred.
if you have plants, i wouldn't recommend the glass top.
there is a much bigger difference than expected with using the top and not. I'm using the top due to evap issues, but once I put this light up on the next tank, i won't use it.
