There should also be no question that that same brighter lighting causes what would be minor algae problems to be major problems, and avoiding or even being able to handle those problems requires pressurized CO2, adjusted to maintain a concentration of CO2 in the water that is close to the maximum that the fish can live with. If you choose to ignore the need for CO2 you may well become one of those who drop the whole planted tank hobby our of sheer frustration.
Just excel for me, no major algae problems.
