Yah, reading goes to say that the Amazonia does generally (in some cases) produce some cloudiness at first. But it is good to know that this has been done before and with success. Not to mention it was used amazonia and there was more eco-complete. Great share, thanks!!
Would you recommend the amazonia as the bottom layer or the top layer? Plants seems to have a harder time establish root with eco-complete (from reading) compared to amazonia correct?
Just a thought, have you/anyone tried crushing or grinding eco-complete to match the sizes of the amazonia or make it smaller? (stupid thought probably)

My amazonia always produces a cloudiness. I used pure eco complete before I switched tanks and while the root systems aren't as nice as what amazonia produces, it still does a good job. Mine is completely mixed, rather then having 1 on bottom, and 1 on top. I also wouldn't try grinding up eco complete. Even considering my amazonia is breaking down, I still see a good mix of both on top, and unless your really checking, you wont notice that you have 2 different substrates intermixed.
