Questions about Aquatop's PF-UV HOB Filter
Great questions! Let's take them one by one.
1. What is the warranty as UV deteriorates many plastics?
The UV housing of the PF-UV Series is constructed of UV-resistant plastic ensuring longevity. Our products are under warranty to the original purchaser against defective material and workmanship under normal use for a period of 180 days from the date of the original purchase. Rest assured, however, that the UV housing of the PF-UV Series, if treated properly, will last for many years.
2. How are the UV Specs determined?
Dwell time (time the water is in contact with the UV bulb sleeve) is the single most important factor in a killing dosage.
a) All UV specifications relative to AquaTop products are based upon rigorous, long-term testing with qualified spectral output equipment.
b) Dwell Time can be calculated by measuring the distance between the bulb and the quartz sleeve, the distance between the quartz sleeve and the interior of the UV housing, the thickness of the UV sleeve with flow rate taken into accountability.
c) UV products by AquaTop offer adjustable flow rates allowing for a user to increase a kill rate or decrease a kill rate and are typically set or rated for a kill rate of 30,000µW/m2.
3. What keeps the UV from killing the bacteria in the media?
a) No worries on that end. There is a UV housing that keeps all emitted UV rays from coming into contact with the filtration media.
Hope this helps!
