I don't think so......30 minutes isn't enough to grow most plants outside, let alone in a jar in the house. I think you need more light than that personally, maybe just ambient fluorescent light like office lights might even be enough, I am not so sure about indirect incandescent light from lamps or the like though. Maybe putting the jar near some other aquarium, so you get a little of the light from there?
