Rise in pH would not be as big an issue as the rise in GH, depending on fishes you are going to keep,and the GH of the water you use for water changes.
If source water, is much different than tank water with the coral sand,then with each water change,fishes,invert's will be stressed as the try to adapt to fluctuating mineral content.IMHO
