Default 2 year old Amazonia

I'm working on a deal for some used Amazonia. It was used for 2 years prior, and before making the final call I want to make sure I'm going to get something worthwhile.

I've seen some people say that their AS has lasted 4+ years. Is this the case? I'm considering talking to Justin @ Rootmedic about putting together a substrate package to help reinforce the nutrients from the get go. I'll still be dosing EI as well.

My next scape is going to involve several carpeting plants including DHG and Staurogyne. I also want to be able to feed some more demanding and pretty stems like some of the nicer ludwigas. I've had trouble up to this point with all of the above using non-AS substrates. The only time I was really successful was using fresh Eco-complete with Staurygone.

Will it matter if the AS is 2 years old?
