I just moved in to live with a friend in his house. He has a 450gal hot tub in the backyard in a sunny area. Has a big filter and heater but we don't want to heat up the water unless is extreme cold and we need to.
The idea is to breed fish and crayfish to eat and also have edible plants like azolla and duckweed for the livestock to munch on. It will be topped of with tap water or hard water (waste) from a RO/DI system.

Any suggestions? Thoughts?
