Build it,put in fish,look at it.maintenance free,dont over think it.I think I have a cal pump in a skimmer.There are real expensive pumps,dont wast your money.mines been running for 4 years,and it froze solid!! gold fish and koi.You dont need a heater,very hardy.Look cool.If water freezes over get a small bubbler so fish can breath
Liners are EPDM.Pond liner companys say there are chemicals in EPDM for roofs that will kill fish.Pond EPDM is 3x more money.DONT BELIEVE IT!!Im a roofing contractor and had a left over piece and used it.NO DEAD FISH. It was a bit nerve racking,if the fish did die I would have had to rip apart the entire pond.But 4 years later its going strong
