why would it kill future shrimp? it should stay fairly soluble in the tank and get pulled out with large successive water changes.
if thats not enough, carbon filters it out to a minor degree, and prime will remove some copper as well. otherwise there are filter media specifically designed to remove copper.
on a side note, some shrimp are pretty resilient. i had 2 RCS in my betta tank (hitchhiked) and it got velvet. i treated with a full dose of CuSO4 for 7 days. the shrimp are still there a month later.
