I have been to N.O. 3 times since my in-laws only live a couple hours away...

Bourbon Street is a must see...running parallel with it is Canal St. , this whole area is kinda fun...

If you are into history and neat architecture then bring a camera and take a horse-n-buggy ride through the French Quarters then be sure to eat dinner in one of the fine restauraunts located within...

Just be careful of the gumbo ! Its delicious but that stuff can go through ya like wild-fire! There is also a place down by the mall (Riverfront Mall) I believe it's called where you can take paddle boat rides down the Mississippi River.
My wife and I stayed right on Bourbon Street once across from "Big Daddy's" in a room with a balcony overlooking the street, dont think I have been that drunk since ! What a party town... you are in for some shows on Bourbon St. if you go, there is always something happening there.

Have Fun and take care of your wallet... some of the best pick-pockets in the world live there! But dont worry, its a safe area despite that... :?
